Walks and The Art Trail
Completely dog-friendly, Lakeside Country Park is a great place to walk with the family. The ground is stony but it is flat. It is about 2500 meters and starts at The Lakeside Centre, takes you around the three lakes, past the playground, around The Wildlife sanctuary, and back to the railway.
Make sure you take your wellies in the winter months as it can get muddy. The trees in the summer months make Lakeside Country Park nice and shady.
The inner walk takes you past the three lakes. Dogs do need to be on leads here as the birds and other wildlife make their home here.
The Art Trail is a great way to get the kids walking. There are 9 metal panels around the park that have artwork from Nicola Henshaw, a local artist. Walk around the country park and see if you can spot them all.
Play area
The play area is great for toddlers. Right at the top of the park, the play area has some swings, a slide, and a good amount of fake grass to run around on. There are also plenty of benches to sit on and have a picnic while watching the train go past.
Eastleigh Lakeside Railway
The Railway is open during the school holidays and some weekends. Please do check the Eastleigh Council Facebook page as they do keep the times updated.
The steam train is a fun activity for all the family. It takes around 15 minutes to do the whole circuit. You do not have to book but you do need a ticket to ride the train.
