These are the best 17 zoos and wildlife parks in Hampshire that the whole family will enjoy. Some of these are paid to enter but all are all-day activities that you can enjoy with the whole family.

Hawk Conservancy Trust

The Hawk Conservancy Trust is set in 22 acres of beautiful countryside that offers the whole family flying displays and amazing animal experiences. The trust has loads of places to have a picnic, a great play area for the little ones, and a wide range of animals that will keep even the older kids amused.

Finkley Down Farm Park

Finkley Down is a huge farm that has outdoor and indoor activities for the whole family. They have loads of parking on-site that is free to use.

Once inside the grounds, you’ll be welcomed by a whole host of fun play equipment from trampolines to swings, crazy golf, and go-carts.

Inside they have a huge soft play and a great cafe that sells a range of snacks.

Make sure that you buy the animal food at the front gate as some of the animals you can walk around and feed. We love feeding the goats the best! Hang around for the rabbits which you can hold and the sheep races are a great way to end the day on a high.

Miller’s Ark Animals

Miller’s Ark Animals is a great little farm that is great for smaller kids. They currently only offering an hour and a half slots per family but this is a great local farm that you can partner with another activity. They have all the traditional animals that you’d expect from a traveling farm including donkeys, sheep, and ducks.

Birdworld

Birdworld is a huge zoo that offers everything the whole family needs for a fun day out. You’ll get to see everything from pelicans and white storks to owls and flamingos. They have a great play area for smaller kids and loads of space for the whole family to run around in.

You can take lunch with you as they have so many picnic benches and places for you to put your picnic blankets down if you prefer. They also have a great restaurant, cafe, and kiosk throughout the park where you can buy snacks and treats.

Marwell Zoo

With over 100 animals including tigers, rhinos, and penguins, Marwell Zoo is a huge 140-acre park that is a great day out for the whole family. They have playgrounds scattered throughout the park and loads of cafes and restaurants for when you get hungry. Why not bring a picnic as they have loads of picnic benches and green space for you to relax on too.

Cholderton Charlies Farm

This working farm has everything you need for a great day out. They have loads of animals from pigs, sheep, cows, and ponies. You can feed the animals, pet them and enjoy walking around the nature reserve and natural land.

Oasis Down to Earth Farm

Now known as Southampton City Farm, this is a charity farm that promotes the outdoors. They have loads of animals on this working farm including pigs and cows.

Make sure you check their website before you visit as they do open at different times.

Aldermoor Community Farm

Only open on certain days, Aldermoor Community Farm is a great community farm that grows there own vegetables and looks after animals. This farm is run by volunteers.

Longdown Activity Farm

This is a great farm for the whole family. Once you get inside the farm you’ll be able to experience everything that this farm has to offer including goat feeding, animal encounters, and tractor rides. They have a huge playground, soft play and trampolines for the smaller kids too.

New Forest Wildlife Park

This wildlife park on the edge of the New Forest is a great place to enjoy the local wildlife and go for great walks. Make sure you visit the otters, see if you can spot the red deer and the grey wolfs are a great watch too.

They have a huge range of owls that will stop you right in your tracks. They have a great adventure playground and loads of walks that you can enjoy. The picnic area is great in the summer months and they have a cafe that sells loads of yummy treats.

Manor Farm

Part of River Hamble Country Park, Manor Farm has all the classic animals that you’d expect from cows, horses, and goats. They have a great playground with a Blacksmith and an old school that the kids can explore.

They have a huge inside soft play for babies and older kids. It’s a great place to let your baby have fun as it’s also got a soft play barrier to stop them from escaping. The older area is great for kids aged seven plus. It has huge climbing frames, slides and adventure play equipment that will keep them entertained for ages. This is also were you will find the picnic benches and a small cafe that sells all kinds of sweet treats like ice creams and cake.

You can meet the animals at certain times of day and they put on loads of kids activities as well.

Blue Reef Aquarium

Right on Southsea Seafront, Blue Reef Aquarium is a great way for the whole family to explore the wonders of the sea. They have everything you need including a shark walk and rays and crabs. They have a great little splash park to overlooking the seafront in the summer months.

Staunton Country Park

Staunton Country Park is home to a range of farm animals including pigs, sheep, ponies, and chickens. This is a huge farm that is based inside the country park that has loads of land for you to explore.

Libertys Owl Raptor and Reptile Centre

With amazing displays from birds of prey, the Libertys Owl Raptor and Reptile Centre is home to some of the most beautiful birds you’ll ever see. Walk around and see these amazing creatures in action!

New Forest Deer Safari

Offering group safari tours, these take you through the forest and help you spot all the local wildlife. These are fun tractor rides that take you on a fun route. They only run through the school holidays currently so please check their website before going.
