Country parks in Petersfield

Queen Elizabeth Country Park

This country park lies within the South Downs National Park. It offers loads of family fun into loads of walks, cycle paths, and playgrounds. Car parking charges do apply. Make sure you take a picnic and some fun games to play on the grass.

The park is open all day every day and is free to visit.

Staunton Country Park

Set in 1000 acres of grassland, Staunton Country Park is a full day out for the whole family. It is aimed at younger kids but it has loads to do for all ages.

The farm has loads of animals that you’d expect from a working farm. Pack wellies though as it can get very muddy.

The gardens are full of beautiful flowers and are a great place to fun around as a family or have a picnic.

Days out in Petersfield

Petersfield Pool

This heated outside pool is great for the whole family. It’s open from late April to mid-September and they run sessions through their website. They have hot showers, changing rooms onsite, and a huge sun terrace with picnic benches which is a great place to have some food in the summer months.

Petersfield Lake Play Area

This great outdoor space is perfect for the whole family.

Just a small walk away from the town center, this 69 acre land has flat paths which are perfect for scootering and bike rides.

The pond is great in the summer and the walk around it is perfect for toddlers and those with a pushchair.

They have a great playground on-site and a little food kiosk if the kids get hungry.

Museums in Petersfield

Petersfield Museum

Right in the center of town, Petersfield Museum is a great place to visit to really get to know the local area. They offer social exhibitions which show what life was like in the town over 1000 years ago. Before you go, please check their website as booking is needed. There is a charge for this museum.

The Courtyard Café offers everyone a great place to relax when hungry. They do great cake and other snacks.

Make sure you have a look at the Petersfield Museum shop as they have loads of local history books and gifts.

Butser Ancient Farm

Open during the school half term, Butser Ancient Farm is home to loads of Stone Age and Anglo-Saxons homes.

set right in the middle of the South Downs National Park, take a walk around and explore what this amazing farm has to offer.

Little Woodham Living History Village

Little Woodham is a 17th-century village that’s surrounded by woodland. You get to meet all the villagers who you would expect to see in a 17th-century village including a seamstress, cooks, blacksmith, and farmers. There is a charge to enter the village but they do take card. Parking is free and the toilets are near the car park. Take a packed lunch as they have a little tuck shop but that’s it when it comes to food and drink.

Weald and Downland Living Museum

These amazing 13th to 19th centuries buildings are a great place for the whole family to explore. They have gardens, farm animals, walks, and a lake for the family to enjoy.

This is a museum-like no other! Walk around the houses and fully get to know it was like to live in these times.

If you go in half term then you can enjoy the special events that they put on as well.

This is a full day out for the whole family. Bring a picnic or eat at their amazing cafe on-site. Dogs are welcome across the museum’s 40-acre land. They have loads of trails that are perfect for every walking ability.
