Private swim schools

These are private swim schools that offer swimming classes in private pools. They aim to build water confidence in smaller groups. Please check with the provider and to get more information about the times their sessions run as they do change.

Senga’s Swim School

Based in West End, Southampton, Senga’s Swim School offers your children water experience in a private pool in West End with a maximum of three in a class. Day time sessions are available for babies and toddlers plus after school lessons for older kids.

Wessex Swim School

Wessex Swim School offers a range of different lessons throughout Hampshire. Starting with baby classes right up to older kids, they offer three in a class up to stage 5. They have lessons in Regents Park Community College, Bishop’s Waltham Junior School and Sports Direct Fitness. Check their website for their timetable.

Fareham Swim School

Qualified ASA and STA swimming teachers, they offer all ages swimming lessons to help build up their water confidence. They offer small classes and have the teacher in the water to help if needed.

Turtle Tots South Hampshire

Turtle Tots South Hampshire offer a range of lessons throughout East Hampshire. They teach in small groups with the teacher in the pool. Find out more by looking at their website.

Swim School Academy Bitterne

Offering small classes throughout Southampton, Portsmouth, Totton and Fareham, Swim School Academy Bitterne offers babies and kids swimming lessons to suit all abilities. They also offer holiday lessons which happen in week blocks.

Leisure centres in Hampshire

All these leisure centres offer baby right up to adult swimming lessons. You do have to book in advance and some do ask for a least one whole school term commitment.

The Rapids

Romsey Rapids is a leisure centre just outside of the town. It has loads of free parking for up to four hours. For public swimming they offer four interactive pools that cover everything from a rapids and lane pool to a pirate ship and splash pool for babies.

They have a learners pool which is where most of the lessons and classes take place. They offer a range of classes from parent and baby to pre-school classes where a teacher is in the pool with them to after school classes that runs on ability levels.

The Quays Swimming and Diving Centre

The Quays is based right in the centre of the city of Southampton. The car park is huge but is is pay and display. The Quays offers a range of different swimming options for the whole family.

For babies, there is a small splash pool and swimming lessons available. For toddlers upwards there is swimming lessons run by Swim England Learn that help children learn about water safety and how to swim.

Alton Sports Centre

This leisure centre has a 25 metre pool with a 12 meter kids pool and a diving pool. They also have a flume and other interactive activities when you book a family swim.

For swimming lessons, they offer a range of children and adult classes that are either 30 minutes or 60 minutes in length. They offer all age lessons from baby and parents right up to adults learning to swim.

Andover Leisure Centre

For a family swim, Andover Leisure Centre offer a 6 lane pool that is 25 meters deep and a moveable depth teaching pool. They also have a little splash pad for babies and toddlers.

Run by Places Leisure, Andover Leisure Centre offers a range of swimming lessons throughout the week for babies and parents right up to beginner adult lessons. They offer a flexible timetable that means whatever time you need they should have. Teachers are stood at the side of the pool and for older kids, they run a colour system that is based on ability.

Petersfield Pool

This heated outside pool is great for the whole family. For a family swim they offer two hour slots where you can enjoy the 25 meter pool that is heated all year around. They have on-site changing rooms and picnic benches too.

They offer swimming lessons to under 5s throughout the year. They also offer special parent and baby sessions that mean you go swimming with your baby without the risk of being dive bombed.

Basingstoke Aquadrome

This fun and interactive swimming pool is great for all family members. For babies, they have a splash pool and sprinklers that help to get babies and toddlers used to the water. For older kids, Basingstoke Aquadrome has flumes and rapids that you can all enjoy.

They offer a range of swimming lessons and drop-in sessions for babies and parents. They offer swimming lessons in their 25 meter pool and 20 meter teaching pool.

Taro Leisure Centre

This leisure center in Petersfield has a 25 meter pool with a teaching pool and toddler pool. They offer swimming lessons for all ages from baby and parent right up to adults. They offer lessons throughout the week and over weekends and aim to help your children improve their swimming skills.

Havant Leisure Centre

This leisure centre offers family swimming and adult sessions throughout the week. Look out for their blow up swimming sessions which are great for older kids and adults.

For swimming lessons they have a 13 meter pool, diving pit and a smaller 5 meter pool for beginners.

Places Leisure Eastleigh

Places Leisure Eastleigh have two pools that can be used by the whole family throughout the week. They also offer inflatable sessions and fun sessions when they put all their floats out.

For swimming lessons they use their smaller pool which has a moveable floor and their bigger pool which is divided up into lanes for the older kids. They teach all ages from baby and parent right up to adult lessons. It is based on ability and the teachers are either in the pool or stood on the outside depending on the ability of the class.
